Sodick Sponsors Major Golf Tournament
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the opening of its production plant in Thailand, Sodick became a major sponsor of the Royal Trophy golf Tournament which took place at the prestigious Amata Spring Country Club,in Thailand in January, 2009. At the end of a very exciting competition the overall winners were the Asian team, who won the foursomes and four-ball competition, even though the European team "pipped them at the post" in the Singles.
This Royal Trophy golf tournament is unique in pitting the best golfers of Europe against the best in Asia, and the match was keenly fought with each side fielding a strong team. The perpetual Trophy itself which is crafted in solid silver, weighs a magnificent sixteen-kilogram solid and has been generously donated by His Majesty, the King of Thailand.
The Royal Trophy is considered to be very important to the development of the game in Asia, with a role that can be compared to that of the Ryder Cup for the European game in the 80s and 90s.
